When I host Beatles Music Trivia, I always introduce myself by saying that I’m a huge Beatles fan – because I have to be. I inherited it from my mom.
My mom doesn’t like listening to music, but she loves the Beatles. I grew up listening to the Beatles in my mom’s car, but I truly became a fan while hosting trivia.
During my second contract, when Matt Barnard was my Cruise Director, he hosted a Beatles music trivia that was way more fun than it was trivia. I was smitten with the way he strategically broke all the rules.
After the pandemic I started putting my own spin on Beatles music trivia. One day I started giving out points based on the lyrics – I figured the true Beatles fans cared more about celebrating the music and listening to the songs than they cared about showing off how many song titles they could recognize. Enough people came up to me afterward and told me that it was the best trivia they’d been to that I decided to keep doing it that way. As for the few who did not like my style – I hope they enjoy all the other Beatles music trivias out there.
Last summer I had the chance to meet Just John and Paul.

On a few of my tours in Hamburg, the tour guides pointed out places where the Beatles had once walked, played and occasionally got into trouble. I wanted to come back to see them up close. I think Hamburg offers a Beatles tour, but it runs later in the day- after I’m back on the ship. Still, after telling the story of my fandom so many times, I wanted to take the opportunity to reinforce it in person.
From the bus we had a pretty good view of the Beatles Plaz.

Here they are up close:

With the 5th Beatle off to the side, since he didn’t sick around:

They told us that the Beatles lived in the pink building

But then I realized that they meant this pink building:

The light pink one – not the Sex-House

After a crazy night involving alcohol, at least one Beatle (maybe more) were locked up in this police station:

Down a side street, I initially took the picture of the elephant for my mom, but the Beatles actually played in the building under the sign on the left.

Which is this place:

And they also played here:

Next stop: Liverpool! (arrangements for this trip are yet to be made)
