After two incredible days in Belgium the week before, I felt like I had so much to write about that I wanted to take a day off from having adventures – so I could write about the ones I’d just had. But why not find a cute cafe in Belgium to write about my travels? I walked off the gangway and was presented with a choice – the shuttle to the terminal in Zeebrugge or the shuttle to Blankenburge? I went with Blankenburge.
If you recall, the first time I came to Blankenburge, I walked around for 12 minutes and decided to head on to Brugge. Today I wanted to give it more of a chance.
I did my reliable trick of opening Google Maps, searching for restaurants that were open and then scolled through photos to find one with a nice atmosphere.

But check it out! Blankenburg was so pretty!

I love a narrow street of cobblestones.

I found this cute cafe with windows looking out at the boats.

I can only imagine what this town is line when the weather is nicer.

The WiFi was fast and I was able to upload my photos. I ordered a ‘Lady’ (toast with poached eggs, ham and melted cheese) to justify sitting at the table for hours.

I rushed back to make the shuttle in time to get ready for my American party, but I still had to take a couple of moments to be charmed.

I just love that even when I take a day off from exploring I still find myself in charming places. This whole experience continues to outdo what my imagination pictured when I wanted to come here – even in winter.
